KIDS IN HALIFAX
No matter what neighbourhood you to choose to live in, there are opportunities for your children to grow strong, learn lots, make great friends and have loads of fun. See below for a few examples.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
PLAYGROUNDS
This city offers great play spaces.
Some of our favourite playgrounds are the Isleville Park playground and the Fort Needham Memorial Park playground, both in the North End. Also on the peninsula are Flinn Park and the expansive Halifax Commons playground areas. In the Purcell's Cove and Spryfield areas, a new playground in the Dingle/Sir Sandford Flemming park is a must-visit.
SWIMMING
Superb Swim Spots
Captain William Spry Rec Centre in Spryfield has a really fun wave pool.
Halifax.ca lists all its public swim times here.
The Zatzman Sportplex in Dartmouth has a tarzan rope, waterslides, and a hot tub.
The Canada Games Centre has a huge pool, a sauna and a tall, tall water slide.
SPORTS FIELDS
Large open spaces
On the peninsula, a few well-known fields are Sullivan Park (The Pitt) in the North End, Larry O'Connell Field off Chebucto Road. Ravenscraig Field and the massive Graves-Oakley field in Spryfield.
SKATING
Ice Skating and Inline Skating, by season
The Emera Oval, in the Halifax Commons area, offers physical family activities all year round. The schedule is available here.
